Survival based real time optimization for relocation and dispatching of Emergency Medical Services with balanced workload and outsourced ride-hailing services
The main goal of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) managers is to save as many lives as possible. Online relocation policies aim to reduce response times compensating for the coverage gap left by busy ambulances. However, unrestrained relocation and redeployment polices lead to excessive and unbalanced workload for the personnel due to the irregular spatial distribution of the demand. Thus, in this study we propose a survival based real time optimization framework that maximizes the probability of survival of patients suffering from life-threatening emergencies while maintaining a balanced workload among the crew.
Visualizing food delivery alternatives during an emergency
When children can't go to school, they don't only stop learning but also stop receiving important food and supplies the educational organizations provide to lower income households. Therefore, some solution has to be found in order maintain this important flow of supplies to the most needed. Thus, it is important to understand what is really happening under each scenario, and mind different kinds of restrictions, like social distancing during a pandemic.
Tsunami evacuation simulation visualizer
Visualization for a simulation environment modelling evacuation routes in case of tsunami in a Chilean city. Households were simulated based on census data and the shortest path to the closest safe point was computed. This visualization can aid city planning and the evaluation of evacuation stretegies.
